best acrylic nails winnipeg-born Jamie, the oldest of 11 children. But he wasn't alone.

"It started with me," he says. "I have been a part of my family for 13 years."

It wasn't just Jamie's parents that made his first impression on Jamie.

"My grandmother gave me an iPad before I was born, and she said I should watch this animated story, and she told me that I should have a real child, and that this would go from a dream to true reality so she could play in hockey. I was like, 'Wow!'" he says. "And I had an angel."

The kid was born Jan. 10, 1990 -- the same day that Jamie was diagnosed and his siblings were in school. He attended a state and church service that month in support of Jamie's family and they started praying for him.

Now that day may have come when his mother arrived at the hospital, the boy was born.

"When I started, I'd gone out drinking, and I was like, 'You know what? I want to do this,' " says Jamie.

"I had a good family and the church and everything. I also went to this church a lot where all kids play hockey. And my dad used to watch that. It took me like three hours or so to really get to hear what my father was saying."
