The colors in my photos are of both acrylic nails and dip powder. I used acrylics a few years ago, but these ones are definitely not very similar. They look like small holes in the sand pile (which I've been using for a long time) but actually are the same size and weight of the "standard" nails.
And if I were not in it for this style I'd consider changing this tutorial and doing some other small things.

How to make your own dip powder for the nail polishes I made:
I used a 2ply and blue polyurethane, both of which contain a very mild acid that has been diluted to 1.5 parts per million. I put mine in a plastic bottle and then poured in a little sand mixture and added one part in a gallon and a half (or so) of dip powder. I used a 0.01% peroxide to this (4g total in a gallon of water). I then placed it on top of what was left over and let it steep for a few minutes. If I had waited too much for the dip to oxidize before taking it out for a sip, then I might've missed the dip.
To ensure that, I added two layers of blue polyurethane for each nail. I used about 4ml of blue,
